Summary
The Family Pastor is a key relational leader on The Vine staff team and in the life of the church, overseeing ministry for individuals from birth to graduation of high school. This role also partners with parents as we shepherd, lead and encourage children and youth to follow Jesus through real relationships, sacred experiences, and generous compassion.
Responsibilities
● Lead VineKids and VineYouth Ministry teams, volunteers and program
● Cultivate the continuity of our programs from birth to high school through
curriculum and experiences
● Foster connections with Vine families as a relational leader
● Develop ministry and programs to encourage healthy relationships within families
● Ensure consistent communication and partnership with parents to encourage
discipleship in the home
● Provide care (guidance, visitation, prayer support) as needed to children, youth
and their families alongside the Lead Pastor and the VineCare Team
● Hold training events for VineKids and VineYouth volunteers as needed
● Create & attend major programming events for families, children and youth
● Optionally preach or lead elements in our worship services
● Ensure safety protocols are developed and adhered to throughout all
programming
Qualification
● Experience in directing programs – either in a church, non-profit or for-profit context
● A person with gifts and passion for the spiritual formation of children and youth
● A solid working knowledge of Scripture and the ability to teach Biblically-based
curriculum
● Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and other ministry leaders to integrate the mission of the church into the life of our families
● Evidence of servant leadership, strong initiative and detail oriented
● Experienced and gifted teacher, positive and energetic leader, with a strong
sense of creativity and imagination
● Skilled in recruiting, leading, supporting and supervising volunteers
● Ability to learn technology and maintain church database/CRM software

● Reports to the Lead Pastor with oversight by The Vine’s Leadership Team
● Leads VineKids & VineYouth staff and volunteers

Weekly attendance is about 150, including approximately 40 kids between preschool and fifth grade. We share a building with an Episcopal Church and a Reform Jewish Synagogue and have an additional 30-55 computers that join us live on Sunday mornings via Zoom; we’ve integrated the online and in-person congregations and host an annual “Zoomie weekend” where online congregants meet in Ann Arbor to worship with the local church. We are excited to find an associate pastor who can help tend the life of this growing community.
Job Responsibilities:
preach every 4-6 weeks
input on big picture sermon series and spirituality shaping
oversee newcomer welcome system—including tracking, meeting with, and tending new attendees
help with planning and administration of church wide events
oversee youth group (recruit, train, tend teachers; event planning; curriculum, pastoral care)
teach or oversee two 3-6 week classes per year
pastoral care
weddings and funerals, when needed
hospital visits, when needed
attend staff meetings
attend and help administrate Sunday services (including managing the setup team)
assist with baptisms (planning, certificates, etc.)

The Narrative Project (read more) is a new effort of the Christian Century (CC), the flagship journal of the American ecumenical movement. We are a progressive, independent religious magazine devoted to helping people think critically and live the Christian faith thoughtfully. Find out more about our historic legacy and current work. Position Summary:
The Office and Administrative Coordinator will play a critical role in helping launch this effort and, thereafter, supporting the day-to-day operations of The Narrative Project. This position requires an exceptionally detail-oriented individual with excellent administrative and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, driven self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Help us launch: Compare, recommend, and engage preferred vendors; assist designer in website build/maintenance, maintain social media presence, develop operating procedures, troubleshoot and streamline as the project progresses
Event Planning: Assist in the planning and oversight of significant events, including booking venues, travel planning, and managing event budgets
Logistics & Operations: Make reservations for off-site meetings, manage travel arrangements for program staff and participants, reserve equipment and conference rooms
Website Management: Regularly update and maintain the project website, including content creation and updates, and assist with website construction: strong familiarity with WordPress or similar platform is essential
Calendar Management: Manage project calendars, schedule meetings, and send out reminders
Financial Support: Data entry to process invoices for vendors and reimbursements for staff and program participants; working closely with the CC’s Director of Finance to designate expenses appropriately and to maintain program financial records. Monitor and approve some program expenditures
Communications: Respond to general inquiry emails and phone calls
General Office Support: Help prepare mailings and reports, proofread and copy documents, manage the purchase and distribution of materials, coordinate between different project teams

Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, Des Moines, Iowa, seeks an experienced and energetic full-time Pastor for Congregational Care. This position will report to the Senior Pastor and collaborate with the pastoral team. This is a full-time, in-person, salaried position. The candidate will be regularly involved with weekend worship, general staff responsibilities, and pastoral duties. The primary function of this role is to assist with the weekly pastoral care needs of Plymouth Church.
